Over the years I've been a radar technician on a naval destroyer escort, a playwright and composer, a small press publisher, an editor of an academic journal, a book reviewer, a professional philosopher (I was a paid teaching assistant as an undergraduate), a spouse and business partner to a book cover artist, a computer repairman, a course designer and teacher, a technical writer, an early designer of CD-ROM based documentation, a steering committee member for the Silicon Valley Chapter of the Association for Software Design, and a freelance writer. I amassed 140+ College Credits studying Physics and Philosophy without obtaining a degree (including talking my way into a non-existent Master's Degree program in Philosophy at an Ivy League School.) I spent 20 years working in the high tech industry, focusing on how to make technology accessible and understandable to ordinary people. After the Dot-Com purge in Silicon Valley I went back to school and finally received a degree in Philosophy and Communications/Journalism with a special emphasis in Physics. While going to school I did volunteer work at a VA Hospital and they eventually hired me as a Care Line Secretary for Geriatrics & Extended Care, which included Palliative Care and Hospice (the latter was put to good use as I became the Caregiver for my Parents.) I retired at the end of 2016 and in 2018 moved to Rio Rancho, NM to enjoy myself and once again pursue my long-term interests in Writing and Music.
